I'm all for this.
We could use some input from sun people, as afaik, Solaris has its own
gettext. Also afaict, gettext 0.11 is better for portability stuff, as
systems with non glibc systems just have to install a pair of shared
libraries to use GNU gettext. But I don't use systems other than
GNU/Linux, so I can't tell for sure.
Kenneth wants to switch intltool to 0.11.x in future releases (which
would support po/LINGUAS and drop configure.in's ALL_LINGUAS entirely).
This would be a step in the right direction.
