Because they do not like an interpreter for the plural form expression and
that the expression needs to be specified in each PO file. So simply, the
expression is hardwired in kdelibs (there is about 10 different algorithms
so for). But I can be wrong, it's a long time ago :-))
Also, the PO file is backward compatible.
