Dear Pema,

I am not sure whether you are compiling Debian packages to create the 
LiveCD.
If you can compile, you need the source package for "xkeyboard-config".
The Debian package is

Xkeyboard-config is found at
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software_2fXKeyboardConfig
From the same page you can find a link to the latest Dzongkha keyboard 
configuration file,

There is one point that I am not sure about and I would like you to do 
some testing.
I am not sure if the version of Debian/Mepis you are using has been 
configured to use xkeyboard-config
or it is using the old xkb-data package. As far as I know, the old 
xkb-data package cannot be translated (easily).
To make sure that you have the localisable xkeyboard-config, try to 
identify a file on your system called "xfree86.xml"
which contains all the existing keyboard-related translations.

If everything is ok, I think you simply need to place your translation 
(dz.po) in the po/ directory
of the xkeyboard-config package and recompile. This should re-generate 
the xfree86.xml file.

If anyone from the list has some insight or can do the regeneration of 
the xfree86.xml file, this would be great.

In the worst case scenario, you could simply create manually a 
simplified version of the xfree86.xml file
that includes only Dzongkha and English. This should save about 10MB on 
the LiveCD.
