That said, you said on May 6th on the list that you are back on duty. Two month and a half later (not counting yesterday) I'm not aware of you having made any commit or second reading. > > > On IRC you told us you will resume your work in June, then July, then > > August ; > > I said that I took again service in July after the RMLL. As you can tell from this discussion and the fact that most of the recent and past contributors are running away from the project and your separate IRC channel I guess I'm not the only one who has "problems in my head". > > >> In addition, I do not approve the opening of accounts for Jonathan > > Ernst > >> and Damien Durand. > > > > I respect your decision, but could you please state why you are not > > approving it ? > > Because I don't know you, because I don't know the quality of your > translations, because you appears immature to me. I hope you'll see if I'm worth your consideration after resumming your duty and reading some of my ~100 translations. As for my immaturity, well, that's your opinion. [...] > > Yes #gnomefr is now for *general* discussion about GNOME. > #gnome-fr is for the GNOME French translation. I know, but you well know that translation is hardly never discussed in gnome-fr nowadays because there is nearly nobody on this channel. Why not merge the two channels ? If the translation discussion interfere too much with the general GNOME discussion we can always re-split the channels... Your disgression about Ubuntu is except subject. What I meant is that GNOME translations are/were so outdated that it made some people contribute directly on Ubuntu translation project. This is a big problem IMHO because: 1) this is a duplication of our efforts 2) people there don't always follow the guidelines/glossary we have put in place 3) some terms are translated differently in Ubuntu than in stock GNOME which can lead to having inacurrate documentation (unless we duplicate the documentation effort as well). > > > Now some history : > > > > I started working on GNOME French translation only lately (since March) > > Haaaaaaa, ok.... > Then how can you ask for my departure for incompetence and claim that I > spend time to commit translations while at the same time you arrived > only in March and than for this reason, I never was in contact with your > translations. Funny, very funny :-D good joke :) 1) I never said I want your departure, I (and others) just want the project to be back on track. 2) I never said you are incompetant 3) As said before you were supposed to be cured some weeks after I started translating GNOME. If that was the case you _should_ have been in contact with my translation. If that was not the case, then I'm sorry for you that your seekness was longer than expected. I don't care if it's a wiki or not. I just think it would be a good idea if people could contribute to the website. Simply put your website under revision control and start accepting patches ; that's how opensource works. Most of the work I and others have done was ready before GNOME 2.14.2. Then ok you were sick and nobody was here to do all the work at that time. However you well know that modules in extras&Co don't follow GNOME release cycle. The translations there are awainting second reading and committing since ages. > > Then, no, you are not ready to have a CVS account. Please stop patronizing people. Nobody blames you for having fallen sick. Just be polite and get yourself a positive attitude. Encourage people to make a better job instead of being rude and ruthless and everything will be fine. I thank you again for resumming your work and hope for the best in gnome-fr project in the future. Let's hope that this whole big discussion thing won't be necessary anymore and that we can all concentrate on our jobs. Best regards everyone. Jonathan Ernst
