I'm having a bit of difficulty with the word "Item" in Nautilus when
translating to Norwegian Nynorsk (nn_NO). "Item" is used in place of
"File", i.e. "Move item to Trash", "Rename item" etc. I have
difficulty
finding a short generic word to translate it with, the generic words

Anything like 'object' or 'element' in your language?
"element" can be used, or "oppføring" ("list point", more or less). If
I can't think of anything better, I'll use "oppføring".
Is there any reason to not translate it as "file"?
Yes. Item may mean both file and directory and FIFO and any other
file
system node.
Ok.
