No. Sorry, I didn't realize that it was adding a translated string. How
do I
request the freeze break?

You just did. :-)

Reason for adding: Fix a crasher by ensuring an error message is
returned.

(this was applied to gnome-3-14 and master).

Seems reasonable, and since it's an error message lack of translation
is not too bad, so here's approval 1/2 from i18n.

Are you ever going to make a new release for the 3.14 series though?

Am I right in thinking that removing a translated string does not
constitute a string break?

The patch in question (for master) removes a translated error string:
