GTK+ 1.1.1 needed by gnome-libs?

I just tried to recompile gnome-libs tonight and configure is saying I need
GTK+ 1.1.1. I only have 1.0.4 installed but it didnt complain yesterday.
Were there some changes made that require the developemnt GTK?
Also, gnome-libs seems to be broke, the compilation stops with errors in the
libgnomeui directory.
