An installation program

The first one: excuse me for sending this to the Gnome list, but I have
asked in Irc, private mails, other mailing lists and news groups and nobody
answered me. Please, don't answer in this list, since I don't want to
disturb anybody.

This is my problem: I would like to work in an installation program
(distribution independant), but I have some questions. I don't know how to
init the system with a ramdisk (I can't find any information about creating
.img files, for example), I don't know if it could be able to make the
program with Gtk under X (probably not, but I am not sure) and other things.
I would like to know where I can contact with somebody or obtain some help
(I have asked to lots of distributions which are working in installation
programs, but they don't answer me).

PS: Excuse me again, but I think the best Linux developers read this mailing
list, and this project would be very good for Linux, I would accept the help
of any developer, though I have to change some of my initial idea.
