This is exactly why I wasn't able to start any applets - if you set a
breakpoint one line before the warning and step through the call of
`PortableServer_POA_servant_to_reference' you will find out that it
aborts when it attempts to make a network connection to the fully
qualified hostname of the machine you're running the panel on.

The assertion just fails because the function that was called before
(PortableServer_POA_servant_to_reference) returned an error.
