Install Help

Hi,
I'm running an AS200 with RedHat5.1. I tried to install Gnome a little over
a month ago, and I could not get it to work after all this time. So I just
removed (rpm -e) all the files to start from scratch. Is there any advise
before I start again. Like which file should get installed in what order.
I would really like to see this working.
