The Debian package is compiled with a 2.7 vintage g++. Debian also
offers gcc 2.7.2.3 as standard C compiler and egcs as standard C++
compiler, but in addition to that also offers all the other
permutations, with corresponding libraries.
So you could try the "alien" package on the Debian jade package, or
else find a 2.7.2.3 g++ and compile jade yourself.
