actually most editors do offer it .... from the vi side I know both vim and
elvis allow you to compile from them and jump to errors etc ... etc ...
it's not something only emacs has ... there are a lot of emacs people
... but there are also a lot of vi people ... I guess most hackers use
one of the two ... with a few exceptions ...
vim also does c indenting though it's default settings resemble the linux
kernel style rather then gnu style ... it needed just a tiny bit of
tweaking to get it to work for me .. and now I wouldn't go back to elvis :)
