You'll need a fair amount of memory to compile it.  Say, 80M or so, so
make sure you have enough swap.

Having said that, I've *still* not managed to get panel to compile,
after spending a few hours over the last couple of weeks.  It may or
may not be easy, depending on what combination of gcc and libraries
you have.
