Cant install latest Gnome

I use redhat linux version 5.1 from the CD, directly from redhat, I have
been using Gnome without problems now for sometime.  I went to the gnome
page today to find the latest version 30 and downloaded all the files in
rpm format. When I try to install I get the following messages (wont write
them all but they are basically the same)
rpm -Uiv *.rpm gives:

libgtk-1.1.so.1 is needed by gnome-admin-0.27-1
libglib-1.1.so.0 is needed by gmc-4.1.35-3
gtk+10 is needed by gtk+-1.1.2-1
gnome-libs = 0.30 is needed by gnome-libs-devel-0.30-1


I have gnome-libs-0_30_1-1_i386.rpm and when I run it I get
gtk+ >= 1.1.2 is needed by gnome-libs-0.30.1-1
libgdk-1.1.so.2 is needed by gnome-libs-0.30.1-1

when I try installing gtk 1.1.2 it saids I am missing gtk+10 so I try
installing it, it tells me I am missing glib10 which I try to install and I
get:
/usr/lib/libglib.so.1 conflicts with file from glib-1.0.4-1
error: glib10-1_0_6-1.i386.rpm cannot be installed

So in the end it seems that my libglib.so.1 is giving problems, so I
renamed the file and tryed again, Nope didnt work

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!  I have been at this since 7am and it is now 7:44pm and
I dont know what else to do  :(
