gdmgreeter + wm ?

Is there a way to make a window manager load for gdmgreeter?  It looks
pretty ugly (IMHO) without it.  You can't just set the X server in
/usr/local/etc/gdm/gdm.conf to a shell script, because X sends a signal
to its parent process - which needs to be gdm.

Should I hack in a config entry for this?
