newbie GNOME programmer

Hi all.

I'm a new gnome lover. I fallen in love with it since two weeks ago, when
I installed v0.30 on my RH 5.1 and ever decided to contribute to the
project. I'm
currently learning GNOME programming (now I'm on GTK-basics).

But now I've some troubles:

1. I've tried to compile the first applet source included in the GTK tutorial
(before the HelloWorld one) and the compiler said:

[daniele@localhost daniele]$ gcc FirstApp.c
In file included from
/usr/include/gdk/gdktypes.h:25,
                 from
/usr/include/gdk/gdk.h:23,
                 from
/usr/include/gtk/gtk.h:23,
                 from
HelloWorld.c:3:
/usr/include/glib.h:24: glibconfig.h: No such file or
directory
In file included from /usr/include/gdk/gdktypes.h:25,

     from /usr/include/gdk/gdk.h:23,
                 from
/usr/include/gtk/gtk.h:23,
                 from
HelloWorld.c:3:
/usr/include/glib.h:284: #error Could not determine proper
atexit() implementation

  How can I resolve this? ( I use gcc 2.7.2 )

2. I don't want to disturb you with silly questions on compiling problems
like the previous one...someone can resend me to a *decent* mailing list
on this subject?

3. GTK questions are preferably to be posted on GTK-related mailing lists
or on this
   one?

Thanks for all and happy GNOMEing!!
