cvs question

when i d/l-ed gtk-1.1.2, i have a themes directory, but there is nothing
in it.
the directory structure is there, but when i go to pixmap_data dir, all
that is there
is a CVS dir, with log file in it.

what is it that im doing wrong?  im following the instructions to the
letter.
can i get this dir tar-ed somewhere?  it didnt come with the .tar.gz
file that i
ftp-ed from gtk.org...
