Mouse wheel movement

Good morning / afternoon all.

First: Thanks to everyone who figured out what was going on with
gnome-core for the past couple of days. I took the esound stuff out of
configure.in and everything compiled fine.

Second: Sorry for venting my frustration on the list.

Third: I still think that there must be someway to improve
responsiveness OR better document strategies for dealing with, what are
for the most part, fairly easy problems (of course, we could do both!).
Todd: how can I help with doing some of this in the FAQ?

Ok,

So I have just recently purchased a Logitech wheel mouse. I set it up
in X by mapping the wheel movements to Btn4 and Btn5. I then placed in
~/.Xdefaults sections for Netscape, Athena, Xterm, etc. button 4 and
button 5 translations. This all worked quite well -- however I hadn't
set up Gnome yet (I just re-installed GNU/Linux on this machine). Now
that I successfully have gnome-session running the wheel doesn't respond
properly (actually, it doesn't respond at all). What do I need to
change?

This also brings up the question: can we add wheel support in the
control-center / throughout Gnome?

Thanks for all the great work that is being done here. I am amazed at
the progress being made!
