Ok, there's a problem with my way of solving this. With my patch, there
needs to be an extra check to see if there already is a Preferences
dialog when the user asks for one. I think if that happens, the best
behaviour would be to raise and give focus to the Preferences dialog.
I just noticed that Properties is now also (or has always been??)
blocking gmc's windows and root icons. I think this is clearly
undesired behaviour.
