Huh, I used to use tarballs but I now use CVS, I've always compiled both
with '--prefix=/usr/local/GNOME' and I've yet to have it put any pixmaps
in /usr/share/pixmaps. As a matter of fact it hasn't ever put anything
anywhere outside of /usr/local/GNOME, which is to me the whole point of
specifying the 'prefix' as I *don't* want it throwing files all over my
system, I want them seperate.
Are you using RPMs ? If so it sounds like you're at the mercy of the
RPM maker as to where things go.
