panel background image suggjestion

I would find it quite useful if the panel's background image could be
told not to resize for the last x pixels on each side(where x is some
real integer >= zero, and not nessicarily the same on each side),
similar to images in E and gtk. This could allow for nice flexability in
the same way it does in E and gtk themes.

Similarly, it would be nice to have radio-button options such as "panel
looks like a GTK button"

Is this workable?
