Gnumeric and gnome-games

I have a problem with gnome. Question is which guile package should be
installed? guile-1.2 as per the web page or guile-1.3 as per the distro.
If you have guile-1.3 installed then gnome-games and gnumeric will not
install as they require libguile.so.2

Attempting to build gnumeric from the src results in this error in
configure

checking whether guile works... no
configure: warning: Can not find Guile on this system


But guile 1.3 is installed and libgtop-examples requires it.

rpm -e guile-1.3-2 guile-devel-1.3-2
removing these packages would break dependencies:
        libguile.so.4 is needed by libgtop-examples-1.0.1-1


Yet gnumeric and games require the earlier package. 

and yes this is the latest rpms available.
