panel errors

when i run the following, i get these errors:
% panel &

gdk_imlib ERROR: Cannot load image:
/usr/local/share/pixmaps/netscape.png
All fallbacks failed.
gdk_imlib ERROR: Cannot load image:
/usr/local/share/pixmaps/gnome-unknown.png
All fallbacks failed.
gdk_imlib ERROR: Cannot load image:
/usr/local/share/pixmaps/gnome-term.png
All fallbacks failed.
gdk_imlib ERROR: Cannot load image:
/usr/local/share/pixmaps/gnome-unknown.png
All fallbacks failed.

the panel will then come up, but no colors or icons.

help please............
