Hi,
I updated my gnome ware to the current CVS yesterday to see what's
cooking and found that gnome is becoming quite aggressive about using
sound. I guess this mostly in gnome-lib.
Well being one of those Linux users runing on a cheap low-end box and
not having a sound card, (woe is me....) I am getting tired of
applications like ee bitching about /dev/dsp and esd. I fired up
control-center and disabled the sound stuff but it made no difference
in the current CVS ware. The only application that actually checks is
E which uses it's own config setting.
My question: is there are global way to disable the sound stuff? Else
is this just broken for now and will get fixed later, (keeping in mind
not every has a sound card or runs X on a sound capable system). I
would prefer to keep compiling in audiolib/esd etc just in case I go
out and blow a wad on a sound card and do not want to re-build from
scratch.
Thanks
Anthony
