sound with gnome and enlightenment.

Hi
	I'm downloaded and installed the latest rpm's for gnome with enlightenment
on a redhat 5.2 system. I'm having some problems with sound.
	
Under the enlightenment configuration, I activated sounds. But I could not
hear any.

Under gnome I activated sounds. I then looked at the sound events. When I
tested them there, they worked. 
But the sounds do not play when the events occur.

How do I solve these problems.
