Help! Going to reinstall linux, how do I start gnome.

Hi
	I'm about to reinstall redhat linux 5.2 I'm then going to install the
latest rpms for gnome with enlightenment, again. (I screwed it up the first
time round). After installing, and then exiting and modifying the .xinitrc
file to
enlightenment &
exec gnome-session

is there anything else I should do?
