Gimp stopped working after installing Gnome

Hi! My Gimp (1.0.1-2) stopped working after I installed Gnome, saying:

gimp: error in loading shared libraries
libgtk.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I understand that is because this Gimp uses GTK 1.0 and Gnome uses GTK
1.2, but how can I run both Gimp and Gnome at the same time without
having to upgrade libc and libm (Gimp 1.0.4 needs these upgrades) or
compile Gimp?
