I don't know why or how it works but I have seen it discussed many times
on the list.
Maybe it need more pronounced placement in FAQ and documents all you
really need in
.xinitrc is

#!/bin/sh
  gnome-session
#

adding any thing else seems to break some start ups and will tend to
always whack out the shut down
could anyone who really knows why take a moment and explain why then
maybe we should take another look at setup instruction (FAQ) ecc....
