I have justed started trying out Gnome seriously, and on the whole I am
impressed with how far it has come, but there are still plenty of bugs:
- If not properly shutdown (eg. Alt+Ctrl+Bkspc) or a hard reset, it takes
/ages/ for the panel & gmc to come up. Window Maker comes up straight
away, but panel + gmc takes ages. log says:
Apr 26 19:28:17 mac68 gnome-name-server[619]: input condition is: 16,
exiting
Apr 26 19:28:24 mac68 gnome-name-server[692]: starting
Apr 26 19:28:25 mac68 gnome-name-server[692]: name server starting
Apr 26 19:28:35 mac68 gnome-name-server[692]: input condition is: 16,
exiting
Apr 26 19:29:41 mac68 gnome-name-server[761]: starting
Apr 26 19:29:41 mac68 gnome-name-server[761]: name server starting
- Sometimes the log out button doesn't work - it just beeps. I can't
figure how to repeat this.
- Using it with E results in E locking up fairly quickly, but I don't
use E much so I haven't investigated.
Stuff installed via rpm:
gnome-audio-1.0.0-1
gnome-libs-1.0.8-2rh
gnome-utils-1.0.1-3
gnome-core-1.0.4-13rh
Is there anyway to set where a window appears on the screen when it
restarts under session management? I have a nice log tailling wterm,
which I want in the corner of the screen, but I can't figure how to get it
to appear there every time.
yrs
Paul
