gmc dies a horid death on HPUX 10.20

Hopefully someone familiar with the code will be able to go "Oh yeah!"
This is what happens everytime I run it.
Pid 2188 received a SIGSEGV for stack growth failure.
Possible causes: insufficient memory or swap space,
or stack size exceeded maxssiz.
