help with gnome >= 0.99.1

Hi,

I have been successfully running gnome 0.30.   However, when I saw
gnome 0.99.1, I decided to upgrade.  When I did, the only way I could
get panel to run was to login as root.  I noticed that 0.99.2 is
now out.  Can anyone tell me what I may be doing wrong with 0.99.1 or
if 0.99.2 fixes this??
