Still having trouble compiling GTK+1.1.12....

I recently downloaded glib-1.1.12.tar.gz and gtk+-1.1.12.tar.gz from 
ftp.gtk.org and compiled.  Glib once again compiled fine, but gtk+ 
failed in make at:

This same problem has occurred twice before with two consecutive snaps 
from jimpick.com. Can anybody lend a hand to a compilin' fella whose 
down on his luck?
