egcs and gnome

Hi!
Do you know any compilation problems with egcs and gnome? I heard
that libgtop doesn't compile with gcc 2.7.2.3 ( I tried with egcs, and
it compiled fine), and I want to set the default compiler to egcs. Is
it risky, or the egcs is good for compiling gnome?
Ideas, experiences?
