Problems compiling Gnome(CVS)

Hi

Iīve downloaded a huge part of the gnome cvs tree, but when I try to
compile gnome-libs I get this error:
"loading cache ./config.cache
./configure: line 534: syntax error near unexpected token
`AM_CONFIG_HEADER(config.h)'
./configure: line 534: `AM_CONFIG_HEADER(config.h)'"
I donīt know what to do(I have the newest versions of automake and
autoconf)
Can anybody help me please
