need to turn it off in one or the other. If you don't want gnome's
session management then dont run gnome-session :) instead start up window
maker. the first time you'll also have to start up gmc, panel, etc. Or
you could turn off windomakers session managment, and just use
gnome-session.
at least, this is what i think.
