That's because configure was generated on a Red Hat 6 system. :-(
Similarly, at least some binary RPMs were generated using glibc2.0 libraries
on a glibc2.1 system, with the result that the dependencies look like
"libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.0)" instead of just "libc.so.6", so they can't be
installed on Red Hat 5.x without --nodeps.
