Error msg: "Inappropriate ioctl for device"

These are error msgs I always find in '.xsessions-errors'
"Gdk-Message: Got event for unknown window: 0
subshell.c: couldn't get terminal settings: Inappropriate ioctl for
device"
What is the cause? I've been having a lot of problems with Gnome core
dumps with RH6.0 standard release.
