It seems Window Maker is parsing the command line itself and it can't
use cd because it's a shell builtin. One way (tested) is to have a
command line like:
sh -c 'cd /usr; gmc'
Another is to have a script like this: (untested)
#!/bin/sh
cd "$1" && exec gmc
If you put that in /usr/local/bin/gmccd then a Window Maker command
line like "gmccd /usr" should work.
