cvs gnome build instructions?

hi there,

redhat 6.0, pII350.

I've just downloaded gnome-core, gnome-libs, gtk, glibs, imlib, ORBit
from CVS, and preparing to install these packages.

I have few questions so that I don't shoot myself in the foot...

o How to I go about installing gtk1.3 so that I don't replace my current
version (1.2) ?

o Are there going to be install complications since my first install was
RPMs? (if so, what special precautions must I take?)

o Should I uninstall gnome first? (how do I do that? rm -rf
/usr/share/gnome ?)

I would very much appreciate brief instructions/tips/advice on how to
build and install gnome and it's dependencies from CVS (without breaking
my existing applications).
