Gnome WindowMaker App Icons won't stay away!

Hello,
I am using RedHat 5.2, Gnome 0.99.8 and WindowMaker 0.51.0 . I always
turn off app icons for all programs, but I have noticed that several
Gnome programs (specifically gmc, panel, and the gnome-terminal) have
the app icon again the next time I run them. Is there any way to get the
app icon to staty away with these programs?
