Here's a list of Gnome 1.0 bugs I've found so far. I agree with all
those who wish this release had been Gnome 1.0-pre1... Gnome can, and
will, in the next few weeks, I'd imagine, become a rock-solid product.
Control Center
==============
Gnome Edit Properties - always reverts back to Emacs no matter what
editor
I choose.
Window Manager - just crashes and restarts the control center.
Screensaver - sometimes crashes the control center, starts a new one,
with the screen saver dialog showing up in its own window.
Selecting a theme that has wider scroll bars than the current theme
makes the scroll bars in all open gtk apps look funny. (it tries to fit
the wider scrollbars in the not-so-wide space.)
GMC
===
Default drag action should be ANYTHING BUT MOVE. Move involves
DELETING when files are moved across volumes. It should either be copy
or bring up a menu (like the middle button does).
By default, performance is very poor browsing smbfs shares. I've heard
there is a setting that fixes this but I can't find it.
Dragging icons from desktop to a file manager window doesn't work.
Changing the icon of a symlink folder on desktop crashses and restarts
the file manager...and the icon still doesn't change.
Right clicking on a file and choosing "open with" sometimes brings up
the strangest dialog I've ever seen. It looks like something wasn't
finished or its there for testing purposes... very strange.
Scrolling with mouse wheel selects folders under pointer as window
scrolls.
".." folder appears in root directory (since there is an "up" button, is
there any reason to every show ".."
Feature suggestion: A "small icon" option would be awesome.
Panel
=====
Has "forgotton" that I added a Netscape launcher to it several times.
Likes to forget other applets and configuration settings as well.
Panel does not take well to being exited improperly (as in
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace)
Feature suggestion: The main menu should have distinct icons for each
submenu.
Not nearly all the applications are in the main menu. X-chat, E-conf,
and gtop are notably missing.
