Perhaps you need to install control-center 1.0 first...

LIBS=-lnsl ./configure --prefix=/gnome
(You need to have LIBS=-lnsl)

Try a newer gnome-objc.

Install libxml.

Wrong way, you should use
exec gnome-session
Which starts up the panel, E, etc. (Make sure you have either configured E
with --enable-fsstd, or the E bin directory is on your $PATH).
