libglib-1.2.so.0

when i run:

[root@bbs local]# rpm -Uvh mc-4.5.23-1.i386.rpm  
failed dependencies:
        libglib-1.2.so.0 is needed by mc-4.5.23-1

now this puzzels me, for i have /usr/local/lib/ in my /etc/ld.so.conf
file and have run ldconfig before running the rpm.

i also have :

/usr/local/lib/libglib-1.2.so.0
/usr/local/lib/libglib-1.2.so.0.0.0


whats wrong with my set up?
