yes.. while i don't know about its config, when did you experience this?
slashdot has been having difficulties the past few days (today it seemed
OK) so maybe the applet could not connect to slashdot? would be very bad
if it locked up the system then...

I have not had any problems with slashapp when i ran it, but i don't
usally do so coz it just eats resources and screen space and i don't pay
attention anyway.
