Lots of people seem to be doing this, so I'll join in.
There's really only one thing about the CDE applications now that keep me using
them on my Solaris system, despite it running with Gnome and E on top. And
that's the way you can drag selections over more than the visible text.
For instance, you're looking at a backtrace in a terminal window, some
application just having coredumped on you ;O) You want to copy that bt into
your mailtool to send it off. And so you have to select the visible bit, copy
it across, then scroll the window, select that bit, copy *that* across... etc
etc. You end up making your window really long to help, and then you get less
windows open...
But with dtterm and the other CDE applications, you don't. You select the first
part of what you want to copy, and drag your mouse. But you don't stop dragging
at the window border - you drag above or below the window, and the text starts
to scroll away from you, so that you can continue to select. Once you've got to
the end of the text you want, you move the mouse to the correct place, and
release the button. And you now have exactly and completely the text you want
ready for copy/pasteing. It's just so *easy*!
I really miss this with Gnome and Enlightenment apps =O(
