Remove "gnome-session" from your startup scripts. Put all programs you
want to start there. Remember to have your window manager as the last
entry.
An easy way to extract all programs that gnome-session is currently
starting up is:
sed -n 's/^[0-9]*,RestartCommand=\(.*\)$/\1/p' ~/.gnome/session
