My own experience has been that the file manager will sometimes go
south but I have compiled the latest sources and the problems I seem to
have had are lessening. As far as window managers, I use windowmaker
that I built myself with gnome support enabled and launch it with the
gnome-session command. My system, running this particular combination
has now been up 6 days with gnome and wmaker running all the time.
At the 99.8 level I did see some crashes where the desktop disappeared
and was replaced with nothing or windowmaker tried to fallback to icewm
which does not exist here.
