have you tried other ppp methods?
try this:
Setup a console PPP dialer.
cp /usr/doc/ppp-*/scripts/* /etc/ppp/
chmod +x /etc/ppp/ppp-o*
Add your account info to the framework in /etc/ppp/ppp-on
Add your DNS server IP's to /etc/resolv.conf like so:
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
ln -s /dev/cuaX /dev/modem, where X is one less than the comport of
your modem.
run (or sym-link) /etc/ppp/ppp-on (this only works as root) to connect and
/etc/ppp/ppp-off to disconnect. if this doesn't work make sure ppp is compiled
into your kernel (or loaded as a module).
