Automake/Conf Problem

I just got the latest autoconf/make off of CVS (autoconf 2.14.1 and
automake 1.4a), and now all the Gnome CVS stuff I try and compile gives me
errors like: Makefile:320: *** missing separator. Stop.
If I take out the section that is having problems, it compiles, but there
are way too many makefiles to do this....any suggestions?
