gmc problems

Do you know what causes this?

1. Sometimes gmc quits responding to keyboard commands like ctl-a and
ctl-r.

2. My desktop icons will not allow themselves to be moved. I drag them
anywhere, they slide right back.  I have the auto arrange feature turned
off in the preferences.


This is happing with October Gnome on RH 6.1.
